Palabra!

September 3rd, 2010

Here’s our first installment of our brand new segment “¡Palabra!” where we present and explain a new Chilean slang word or phrase. Some of these are to be used cautiously, as context is the difference between sounding like a local, and sounding like an idiot.

Today´s slang word is “Cachai”

This is one of the most common words used by Chilenos and it means “get it” or “you know”.

Also can be used in different sutuations like,

Did you see it? = Cachaste? / Cachaste el choque?

Did you understand? = Cachaste? Esto funciona así…cachaste?
